More Reasons to Stay Married
Hi, everyone. This is Roland.
Here is a link to an excellent interview with James Lynch, author of several books concerning relationships
.
It appears that people who are divorced have higher rates (from 2 to 10 times) of heart trouble, high blood pressure, and cancer among other things.
I am or course interested in marriage, but this thoughtful and respected researcher and author writes about the effects of human interaction on our health in a very comprehensive way.
His books include
The Broken Heart: The Medical Consequences of Loneliness (1976),
The Language of the Heart: The Human Body in Dialogue (1985)
and A Cry Unheard: New Insights into the Medical Consequences of Loneliness (2000). Here is an excellent review by John C. Rhead entitled "How Loneliness Can be Fatal"
He has also authored fifteen chapters in medical textbooks and over 100 articles in peer reviewed medical journals. Here is a link to his article about the effect of pets on the heart and more
Thank you so much the University of Minnesota and James Lynch for this nice interview.
